A simple teaser poster for a "Calvin & Hobbes" film. I think if they made this a traditionally animated movie (and NOT 3D animation or live-action) and a good director and script (bring creator Bill Waterson in?), it would make a lot of people happy and I'm sure would generate a whole new generation of fans that are unfamiliar with the comic strip.

Dream voice cast, anyone?

Honor and self-sacrifice. Even in death these qualities do not diminish in a soldier.

I think Hobbes should be voiced by Kevin Spacey. I think he could pull of the smugness of Hobbes tiger superiority while still portraying the innocence of a being who exists solely as the imaginative machinations of a child. Calvin would be hard. I hesitate to say Tara Strong, because--while I love her work--she'd be ever so off. You'd really need somebody who could be sophisticated and naive and curiously enchanted with the world around him all the time. Somebody who can sound like a kid who's imitating an adult.

Dad should be John Stamos. No doubt about it. Just 'cause I like his voice.

I'm not sure who should play Mom, though.

I never thought of Kevin Spacey, that's almost too perfect! Way to think outside the box! Calvin would be difficult to cast; a child actor (unless they're REAL good) would almost certainly have issues with the character scope. Bill Waterson did, at one point, consider making an animated series, you can find an interesting quote from him at the Wikipedia article.

Bill Waterson would hate the idea, I read the 10 Anniversary Book, and he hates the idea of Merchansing

I agree, he probably wouldn't want a film to happen. I don't blame him. The same thing kind of happened with "Where the Wild Things Are" - the author was approached often to do a movie but he never thought it would work until Spike Jonez came along... and the critique on that movie is probably about 50/50. :headbang:

Maybe Ricahrd Horvitz for Calvin? But would he be too adult-like?....

Good idea for Horvitz - if they went that direction, I'd hope they'd tweak the pitch of his voice so he doesn't sound so Zim/Billy/Daggett like. :headbang:
